Student & Staff Mobility

Outbound Student Exchange Partners

Through bilateral agreements signed by the UNILUS Directorate of Research, Innovation & Internationalization, students in good academic standing can apply to spend one semester studying at a partner university while remaining registered — and paying fees — at UNILUS. Current and forming exchange partners include:

SADC Regional Universities Mobility Network

UNILUS is a member of the SADC Regional Universities Mobility Network, a consortium of Southern African universities that pool short courses, joint modules and student-exchange slots each year. Member universities each contribute one or more modules — from public health to agribusiness — that students from any member institution may apply to attend, and a limited number of fully funded places are set aside for UNILUS students each intake.

Commonwealth & Erasmus+ Mobility

As a Commonwealth-affiliated institution, UNILUS students and staff are eligible to apply for Commonwealth Shared Scholarships and split-site PhD placements at partner universities in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

UNILUS also participates in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility scheme, which funds short study and staff-training visits between UNILUS and partner universities in the European Union. Grants under this scheme typically cover travel, a monthly subsistence allowance, and, for staff, a contribution toward teaching or training costs at the host institution.

Staff & Faculty Mobility

Academic and administrative staff can apply for short-term mobility grants to teach, conduct joint research, or attend training at a partner institution — typically for one to four weeks. These visits are coordinated through each Faculty's international liaison and the Directorate of Research, Innovation & Internationalization, and are intended to build lasting collaboration rather than one-off travel.

Funding & How to Apply

Mobility funding varies by programme: some cover a full tuition waiver plus a travel and living-cost scholarship, while others cover travel only. Students and staff should check the specific terms of each partner agreement before applying, as intake dates, minimum GPA requirements, and required documents differ by destination.

• Confirm eligibility with your Faculty's international liaison officer.
• Submit an updated transcript, a motivation letter, and (for postgraduates) a supervisor's letter of support.
• Applications are reviewed by the Directorate of Research, Innovation & Internationalization ahead of each partner's intake deadline.
