Master of Laws in Competition Law

The LLM in Competition Law provides advanced training in competition (antitrust) law and policy. It covers anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominance, merger control and state aid, often with a focus on leading regimes such as those of the EU, UK and other major jurisdictions. Students examine how competition law interacts with digital platforms, telecommunications, media and intellectual property, and how it is enforced by competition authorities and courts. Graduates may work in law firms, competition agencies, regulatory bodies, economic consultancies and corporate compliance roles. The LLM is structured over two semesters, with students beginning and completing a master’s dissertation in the second semester in line with the School’s dissertation guidelines and timetable. The degree is designed to be completed within 12 months (1 year) and is open to applicants who hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Lusaka or any other recognised university. Due to the specialised nature of the programme, there are no credit transfers or exemptions. The LLM is offered by distance mode only, combining a three-week residential period at the start of each semester (which may be extended) with self-study and virtual classes held from 17:30 to 20:30 hours, while all final examinations are written in person at the end of each semester.
