Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science

Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science: The actuarial science programme at the University of Lusaka equips students with strong quantitative and analytical skills to measure and manage financial risk. Drawing on core areas such as probability, statistics, financial mathematics, economics and risk modelling, actuarial science applies mathematics and statistics to assess the financial impact of uncertain future events, especially in insurance, pensions, and finance. Students learn to analyse data, build models, and interpret complex risk-related information to support sound financial decision-making in corporate and industrial sectors. Graduates are prepared for careers such as actuary or actuarial analyst in life and general insurance, pensions, health insurance, and reinsurance, as well as roles in banking and investment, enterprise risk management, consulting, government, and wider financial services where advanced risk analysis and modelling skills are in demand.
